Before signing up as a member please get in touch with the Membership Secretary – info@crantockslsc.org.uk so that we can discuss options with you.

Membership Fees and Categories:

The club runs sessions throughout the year with membership renewals being collected in November at the start of the winter training season. Your membership supports the running of the club and includes a £30 affiliation fee to SLSGB (excluding social & dual members). Club membership runs from 1 November to 31 October. If you join at any other time throughout the year, the membership fees above remain but will be apportioned across the remaining membership year to 31 October.

*Competency, safety, coaching or rescue for club use purposes only. Additional contributions are required for members wishing to take awards for commercial or professional purposes.

** Cornish and team event competition fees are subsidised by club membership to encourage team participation. National and international individual competition entry fees are not included in membership.

*** Club and equipment use are subject to club house facilities policy and risk assessment.

**** Please note that every nipper/sandcrab must have a nominated adult present on the beach during training sessions.

Waiting List Allocation:

For the safety of our members, availability of equipment and to honour the values and aims of the club, some age groups or membership categories may have a limited capacity. Where a waiting list is necessary we will allocate places when they arise and using the following criteria:

  • Family member already an active member in the club
  • Crantock resident – primary address
  • Commitment to help with the running of the club
  • Skills required by the club
  • Length of time on the waiting list
  • Total number of criterion met

The membership sub-committee meet regularly to review the waiting list and membership numbers. The membership sub-committee is comprised of:

  • Membership secretary(ies)
  • Nipper Training Officer
  • Senior Training Officer or Club Captain
  • Chair
  • Other relevant committee members

Where an age group or membership category is at capacity and where there is a waiting list, we may review attendance to ensure that all members attend a minimum of 50% attendance at training and minimum 50% attendance at calendared events to retain a place within the club.

Membership process:

  1. Enquiry received and forwarded to membership secretary.
  2. Membership secretary refers to relevant training officer/club officer for initial contact OR places on waiting list if category is full.
  3. Enquirer attends a taster session as agreed with club officer.
  4. Member completes membership portal as advised by club officer.
  5. Welcome email/message is sent containing:
    1. Joining link for SPOND
    2. Joining link for WhatsApp
    3. Link to Members Handbook
  6. SPOND and WhatsApp request approved.
  7. Induction completed
  8. Once induction is completed, the member can be issued with the club door code.

This membership policy is reviewed on an annual basis.
